Silver Ghost, 1966

Silver Ghost, 1966

Bernhard Luginbühl (1929–2011)

About the artwork

The silver-painted iron sculpture was donated to ETH Zurich by the architect Theo Hotz, an honorary doctor of the university. The piece is based on a series of drawings from Luginbühl’s time in New York. Here, as so often in his works, the artist widely regarded as one of Switzerland’s leading iron sculptors repurposed industrial waste to create his art. By using iron as his material, he ultimately reminds us of the transience of our technical achievements.
