Bust Ernst Gäumann, 1951 About the artwork Ernst Albert Gäumann (1893–1963) was a full professor of special botany at ETH Zurich from 1927 to 1963. His scientific work focused on phytopathology. With this bust, Zurich-based sculptor Otto Charles Bänninger, one of the leading artists of the inter- and post-war eras in Switzerland, created a realistic portrait of the professor that typifies his late work.
