About the artwork

Adolf Kraemer (1832-1910) was a professor of agricultural management at the Federal Polytechnic School (now ETH Zurich) from 1871 to 1905. Together with other lecturers, he founded the Agriculture Department, the first institute of higher education for agriculture in Switzerland. Moreover, he also championed the combination of teaching and agricultural practice in presentations, as an expert and as an association politician.
